I feel it now. I feel it when they go to sleep. When they threw in the towel to pick off the floor in the morning. The liquid runs off the mat and I bottle it for later. They threw away the dreams I picked up for half price at their garage sale. Doesn’t come with directions though. They tossed them with the last time they really moved all the gears. Last time before it collected enough dust to give a grown man asthma. I collect any and all makes. I’ve got a junk drawer, more of a junk first floor of my house, filled to the ceiling with scraps of it. Piles of inspiration in disrepair. I think I’m thinking if the pile gets big enough, it will collapse, under it’s own weight, each piece missing falls directly into that part which remains of the other, and stitch together the Frankenstein of everything you wanted to be and failed. I will be all that you couldn’t, dead hopes resurrected. I’ll be the phoenix to rise from the despair snuffed out in your ashtray.
